Mador to Ekev
Section 35, February 2016
15km

Picture
Today was a relatively easy hike.  During this unusually hot February day (29-30 degrees), we stumbled across a treasure.
Over many years, an area along the shvil was chosen where hikers were putting up messages of memories and love arranged by dark rocks to form words and pictures.   The image of the Israeli flag loomed over all the other messages – and next to the flag was the image of Israel and the Israel trail with a note – “we have no other land”.  As we climbed up to get a better look at the flag, we discovered that there were literally hundreds of messages – of all kinds.   It was an incredible site.

We spent at least a half hour marvelling at the work that was done over the many years.  So much so, that we had to create our own message – “RHC” – Raanana Hikers Club.   We are now proud to be a part of the Shvilistim group that has made their mark on this “hallow” place.
We continued our hike for another 4 to 5 kms to our pick up point, Ekev Camp Ground, and were met by Chaim, our Jeep driver, who took us back to the field school in Midreshet Ben Gurion – and this section of the Shvil came to an end.
